Understanding EV batteries and range

Battery capacity is commonly expressed in kWh, while range is reported using a specified test standard. Usable battery capacity can differ from total battery capacity. Real-world range also changes with speed, temperature, terrain, payload, weather and driving style, so test-cycle range should be treated as a standardized reference rather than a guarantee.
